These are seedlings germinated from seed of ''Sumi nagashi''.

The mother tree is from the ''matsumurae'' group and is a larged leaved red leaf tree. Spring color is a bright purple-red which darkens in early summer to a deep maroon or black-red. Through the summer it turns mor egreen-red or brown-red - holding color best with part shade in the afternoon. Fall colors are in the crimson range. Parent is a strong growing, semi-upright tree making 18-20 feet tall. Makes a great addition to the landscape. Seedlings vill vary and are ~4-8" tall.
