Shishigashira means ''lion''s head'' or ''lion''s mane''. The bunched up leaves on short shoots give rise to the image of this mythical lion from Japanese drama. It is a compact grower making it a good choice for smaller gardens, containers and bonsai. Slow growing, but can reach up to 15 feet tall on maturity. Plants are 10-15" tall.
Has deep green foliage and keeps its color well - even in sun. Fall colors are gold with rose and crimson tones. Shishigashira provides an outstanding effect in the garden! It has been known in Japan for over 120 years.
