This is a selection from ''Deshojo''. Shin deshojo (literally new deshojo) has a dramatic ''fire engine red'' or bright scarlet color in spring. This color holds for a month or so and is followed by a reddish-green color in mid-summer. Fall colors are reds and oranges.

Forms a shrub up to 9 feet tall and 6 feet wide. Has vigorous shoots whe young. This is a GREAT plant for container or bonsai culture. Plants are ~18-26" tall
