Japanese Maple Seedlings Germinated From Named Cultivar Seeds
Rarely Offered: Japanese Maple Seedling Trees You Won't Find Anywhere Else
Japanese maple seedlings are such FUN to grow! As seeds are a form of sexual reproduction you never know exactly what you are going to get!
As you can see in the picture, there is some color and shape variability even within a given group of seedlings from the same batch of seeds.
Seedlings are young trees grown from seed in our Earlysville nursery. These may range from 3" tall up to 24" tall depending on time of year and age of seedling.
Each year we germinate thousands of seedlings. Whenever possible we use seed from known 'named cultivars'. This provides you with the widest selection of seedlings to choose from.
For me, part of the joy of growing from seed is the "surprise" factor when something usual appears! Here's a picture of an unusual red leaf seedling we selected out this year.
While we can't guarantee you an unusual leaf form like this one every time, we can guarantee our plants will be in good growing condition and will be germinated from seed of the named variety you choose.
Seedlings are usually available in red and green leaf forms. In late winter we so also have red and green leaf seedlings from Acer palmatum (green) and Acer palmatum atropurpureum (red) seed.
Note: Popular varieties often sell out. Order early to avoid disappointment. Click on images or text below for available seedlings:
