'Red Select' is sometimes confused with 'Ever Red', 'Garnet' and 'Inaba shidare'.
Yhis cultivar is actually a seedling selection from 'Inaba shidare'.
WHen fully open, the leaves are smaller than Inaba shidare, but teh color tones are very similar.
By early Summer leaves take on a green tone with red markings on the tips and the leaf margins of
the lobes. Fall color is scarlet
