Famous for its intense crimson color in fall. Hardy, large leaved and known since the mid-1800s. Leaves do not burn easily and appears like a "burning bush" in fall with intense crimson color that seems to glow at dusk.
Growth is fast when young then slows down making a branched, round topped small tree reaching 20-25 feet or so on maturity. Leaves sometime curl or 'cup' at the base making a 'saki cup-like leaf' shape - hence the name. Plants are 40-48" tall.
