Acer palmatum Bloodgood is one of the most popular Japanese maples. It has large red leaves and is upright growing, reaching 30 feet on maturity. It has a good deep red color that holds up well into the Summer with less ''bronzing'' than many cultivars. Like most palmatums, some afternoon shade is beneficial to prevent sunburn.
