Beni hoshi is a dwarf, green leaf plant whose name means ''red star''. Introduced from a chance seedling in 1979, the leaves emerge bright red in spring and turn green during the summer. The late summer growth is red making a bright color splash against the existing green leaf background.
Strong grower, reaching 24 feet when mature. A very graceful tree. Plants are currently 40-46" tall.
