Aka shigitatsu sawa is a red tinged cousin of shigitatsu sawa! It has strongly marked veins on a yellow-green background tinged with pink-red. The color develops best in part shade and will last into the summer. In full sun the coloration will fade and the green tones darken.
It makes a large bush up to 12 feet tall and wide. Plants are currently 30-36"" tall. It is a hardy plant but difficult to propagate and rarely found in garden centers. Its name means ''red snipes over a winter marsh''.
